ABOUT OPERATION PROTECT AND DEFEND:

Operation Protect and Defend (OPD) promotes high school civics education with a focus on the U.S. Constitution and the role of the judiciary in a democratic society. This all-volunteer organization was founded more than two decades ago by local judges, lawyers and teachers to help strengthen civics education in high schools. Every year, OPD distributes a written curriculum to high school teachers and sends a judge and lawyer team into each classroom to engage in a dialogue with the students about the curriculum topic. OPD is working to improve civics education in Sacramento, Fresno, and Chico.

OPD is funded entirely by sponsorship, donations, and grants. We provide a meal to every award-winning student and two of their parents, along with a meal to a teacher from each participating school. Please consider helping us provide these meals by sponsoring a student with a $70 donation. Sponsorship opportunities are also available at the $350, $750, $1000, $1500, and $2500 levels.  To learn more, visit www.opdcivics.org/become-a-sponsor/ OR email: sponsorship@opdcivics.org.
