Modern Masters of America (MMA)
Welcome to the Operation Protect & Defend Modern Masters of America Fine Art Contest. This contest offers students the opportunity to express their views on important Constitutional issues through the vehicle of artistic expression.

- Silver Award – $600
- Bronze Award – $300
- Honorable Mention Awards – $100 each
Contest Entries:
Contest entries for the 2024 Modern Masters of America Contest must be submitted online via the Registration form at the bottom of this page. Refer to the prompt and instructions (links below) for further details.
All submissions must be registered by March 31, 2024.
All art pieces must be dropped off at California Lawyers for the Arts on Monday, April 1 between 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm. California Lawyers for the Arts is located at 2015 J Street, Suite 204, Sacramento, CA 95811. Art submissions not received by 6:00 pm on Monday, April 1 will not be entered into the contest.
In-Person Gallery Reception:
Operation Protect and Defend will host a reception for the student artists at The Auditorium at CLARA on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. The gallery is located at 1425 24th Street, Sacramento CA 95816. At the reception, students will have the opportunity to engage with our panel of art judges, view all of the contest entries, and have their artwork displayed in a professional art gallery. We encourage family and friends to attend this special event in support of the artists, too! During the reception, the panel of art judges will view the submissions, speak with the artists, and determine award winners using an established rubric (see Judging Criteria above). Winning students will be notified in early April, and those students will be invited to attend OPD’s Law Day Dinner, where cash prizes will be awarded to the top pieces.
